Meanward

I lost $17,000 trading by hand after 20 years in the markets. So I moved my rules into code.

I'm Sergey Fedorov. That code became Meanward: trading systems for TradingView that you configure, backtest and understand yourself. Built for people with a day job and a risk budget.

It was October 2025. No black swan, no exchange outage. Just me, trading by hand and breaking my own money management rules. And yes, that's after 20 years in the markets.

The first lesson was cheaper, by the way. 2005, forex, x100 leverage, a $500 deposit that was all the money I had. Gone. Clearly it didn't stick, hehe.

What I finally admitted after October is a bit embarrassing: knowing the rules was never my problem. I know them fine. I'm just exactly the guy who breaks them.

So I took the buttons away from myself. The rules live in code now, and my own algorithmic systems do the clicking on my real account, around the clock. I still decide what the rules are. I just don't get to improvise in the middle of a trade anymore.

A bit about who's writing this. I'm not a finance guy: no degree in it, nothing formal. I've been running IT businesses for 21 years, and today it's an e-commerce company in solar energy. Sitting at charts all day was never an option, which is the other reason everything is automated.

I treat trading as venture risk: a capped slice of capital, systematic, automated. My cap for high-risk stuff is 15%. That's my number, not advice. Your age, income and nerves are different from mine.

At some point the systems got a name: Meanward. The first one is Meanward Revert, a mean-reversion indicator and strategy for TradingView, and it's the one trading my account right now. Here's how it works, in 3 drawings.

Fig. 1. The channel. The thin gold line is the mean, the thick lines above and below it are the zones. The channel bends with price, and the further price runs from the mean, the more stretched it is.

Drawings, not market data. They show the idea when it works. When price doesn't bounce, the adds leave you in a stuck position. That's the drawdown, and I write about those too.

CONSENSUS LONGL-FADECONSENSUS LONG
Fig. 2. The signals and the trend filter. FADE fires when a stretch starts to cool off. CONSENSUS fires when FADE and at least 2 more confirmations agree, and that's the one the strategy trades. The stepped line is the higher-timeframe trend: while it's red, long signals are skipped (the faded label on the left, and price did keep falling there).
CONSENSUS 500 (500)CONSENSUS 2000 (2500)TP
Fig. 3. The trade, zoomed in. Entry on CONSENSUS with 500 USDT. Price drops further, the next CONSENSUS adds 2,000, and the take-profit (the purple line) moves down with the average entry price. Price bounces, the position closes. Order sizes, the number of adds, the distance between them, the take-profit: all settings.

Every rule in there is a setting, and every claim is a backtest you can rerun in the TradingView strategy tester on your own chart. I think that's how it should be: a trading system is a tool, not a money button. You configure it, you backtest it, you understand it. Results depend on the hands, mine included.

So here's what you won't get from me: signals, money management, promised returns. If someone promises you 100x, they're selling the promise.

Where things stand, honestly. Nothing is published on TradingView yet (it'll be invite-only), nothing is for sale, and the live record goes public later, when there's enough of it to mean something. Still in the works: Meanward Trend, a trend-following system; Meanward Automation, the connector that runs the strategies on your own exchange keys (it runs mine today and opens to others after a beta); and Meanward Club, a members' group that opens with the launch.

If that sounds like your kind of tool, leave your email below and I'll write when access opens. You can also find me on Telegram, X, YouTube and Substack.

P.S. I never DM first and never ask for money. Anyone doing that in my name is a scammer: report and block.
